This post was going to be about the awesome sweater that I'm working on, but something more important came our way.
Sometimes a woman goes into premature labor. Sometimes it can be stopped and sometimes it can't. That's where this wonderful charity comes to help. Octopus for a Preemie crochets these beautiful 100% cotton octopuses to donate around the country. They are small enough to fit in an incubator with a wee one and still leave space for the doctors and nurses to do their work.

When a baby is in the womb, they grab hold of their umbilical cord. When they come out too early, they grab anything they can, for example, feeding tubes. That's probably not a good idea. With an octopus, they are able to grab and hold the tentacles and feel comforted.

Someone very close to my heart had her baby 10 weeks early. They don't know why she came so early, but they are giving her the best possible care. Momma has to travel to see her baby, who is still in the NICU, everyday and back empty handed. She has requested an octopus for her little to love on and have forever. So I have stopped everything that I have been working on to make the most beautiful octopus I've ever seen for a very tough little girl.
Stay strong, mom and dad!! We're thinking of you. Keep up the fight, girl! Your parents are looking forward to the day you come home.
